Acer TravelMate 4060
The TravelMate 4060 packs a lot of business class performance into a economically priced 6.4-pound machine.
It is an excellent multitasker, running several programs at once without any problems, but isn’t really suited to intense activities like 3D gaming or video editing. Wi-Fi range is also good, picking up a strong 11 Mbps signal from a distance of 50 feet.
A major disadvantage would have to be the mediocre battery life of just over two hours, although this can be extended somewhat with the built-in power management tools.
Software selection is also a bit weak with no built-in office suite, which is quite a tradeoff. With the low price tag, however, it’s not too hard to justify spending a bit extra on your own software.
